27th October Living in Huacachina

It was a day to relax and explore my surroundings. I lay long and wrote my blog, sent some postcards to rellies and friends (via the touchnote app), phoned Bill, Rachel, Craig and mum and dad. It was so good just to chill.

Up for light breakfast at 9am and a wee shuffle round the resort.

Today would be a day of rest and relaxation, time to learn my new camera and take it out for a spin around he resort.

I thought I’d walk up the dunes opposite the hotel for a different perspective of the Oasis but I made the wrong choice of shoes and the burning hot sand ran between the bottom of my sandals and soles of my feet. It was sheer agony. It was only 11am, I never dreamt it would be so hot so soon.

Anyone watching me must have seen the similarity between me and one of those wee desert lizards who hold one foot up in the air to cool it off.

I ran back down to the bottom before I ended up with blisters, straight to the room to change my shoes – not that I was going back up – gave that idea up as a bad attempt.

I spent the rest of the day around oasis taking pictures with my camera, chasing a beautiful white heron, photographing colourful birds at a little waterhole and just generally just chilling and listening to the screams of the people as they were being driven up, over and down the sand dunes at great speed in the dune buggies – I had done this in Dubai and once was more than enough!!!

I drank a lot of water that day but didn’t eat. I went to bed at 8pm. It was Sunday and most of the party revellers had gone home – it was so peaceful, so quiet and not a base note to be heard anywhere

I set my alarm for 5am and drifted off to sleep to the sound of silence.

Nite 😘
