Feeling Anxious
3am, tossed and turned for hrs and decided to get up at 5am and pack my rucksack for tomorrow. I was travelling to Cusco to work at a dog rescue centre for 8 days and fit in Machu Picchu and rainbow mountain.
Found myself a bit teary this morning, but frankly I think I’m exhausted. So many tours and so many early starts (2:30 – 5:30) every morning for the last two weeks and I can’t quite get myself into a sleeping routine, my head is constantly thumping and I feel nauseous with this altitude – but I know if I didn’t make the most of my time here in South America I would regret missing out once I returned home.
6am, all packed ( apart from a few bits and bobs), boiled eggs for breakfast again (all I can really tolerate without having dire consequences – and I have an 8 hrs bus journey this morning to Cusco) but this time I decided to add a bit of variety and put it in a cup, add butter, salt, mash it into a paste and spread it on brown toast – mmmmmmm!
Made a concoction of Coco tea to help with these unwanted altitude sickness effects then head off to the ATM. I don’t have a sol to my name – skint myself at lake Titicaca yesterday and there was so much more I wanted to buy.
Passed a beautiful church – Cathedral Puno on the way. It’s sunny here – it’s always sunny – amazing to wake up to.

All organised with a few hour to spare so I took the opportunity to write up my blog as I’ve been so busy and not had time to keep it up to date.
10am on the dot transport arrived, left this beautiful hotel for my next destination Cusco and the dog rescue centre for 8 days.

A minibus turned up to take me to a meeting point to catch the Peru Hop coach. Unfortunately it was over an hour late and we sat in the middle of nowhere waiting until it arrived. It wasn’t all doom and gloom. It gave me the chance to chat to a lad on the bus who was from California and a film producer. Unfortunately I didn’t recognise and of his productions to appreciate his work but he was so interesting and unassuming.
Eventually the coach turned up and we piled in and I was keeping my fingers and toes crossed that there was a spare double seat – which by some miracle was actually free. This was the most modern of all the Peru hop coaches I had been on, it had overhead TVs playing British movies and USB ports 😍 very plush!!!
Now I am travelling on to Cusco arriving at 7pm.

Once it got dark I watched Mrs Doubtfire on the TV, so funny, Robbin Williams was an incredibly talented actor.
Arriving in Cusco later than intended, we all were piled into different taxis to take us to our hostels/hotels/home stay. Mine was Atlantis Hostel and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a little bit out of the city centre and my first opinion was that it was one of the better ones

Anna, a young English girl from the UK, was waiting for me inside to debrief me on the activities of the next day. She was picking me up at 8am to take me to the Rescue centre. We said goodnight and I headed to my room.
It was lovely, a twin room with a lovely toilet and shower. Even though it was only 8pm, I was keen to get to my room, unpack and get to bed.
It was so cold, probably 6-8oC, and I was shivering so I got up and put every spare blanket I could find on my bed but my feet were still cold so I put on a pair of woolly socks.
That did the trick. Not long after I fell into a deep sleep until my alarm woke me at 6am
😴
