11th Nov. Leaving Cusco ✈️

The whole morning was taken up with the chore I hate most – packing and repacking my rucksack.

After a lot of pulling and shoving I got from this:

Way too much stuff

To this:

Bulging at the seams

Fingers crossed the zips hold 😱

I loved Cusco and was getting to know the area and now it was time to leave. Wish I had more time to explore.

A short taxi ride

Wicked weather

and I was at the airport waiting to board my plane back to Lima. It was a quick domestic flight- 1hr 40mins minutes.

Beautiful blue skies

When the plane doors opened, in rushed a wall of hot air. The heat in Lima was stifling, I hadn’t realised how cold Cusco was.

The usual sea of people greeted us at the arrivals area and there he was standing with my name in a big placard , Jesus, the taxi driver was there to pick me up and take me to my hotel and he spoke English – what a talented man 🤣

The ‘hotel’ was family run and I could hear all the family through the walls – kids crying, some singing, some playing video games, some watching shooting movies, father having to have loud phone conversations to be heard over the noise, someone constantly clearing his throat and mother in the kitchen below my bedroom with her pots and pans rattling as she made dinner.

It was only 4pm but I decided to lock myself in my room with a packet of mints and a bottle of water,

My hotel room for the night

only coming out to book the airport taxi for 7am the next morning. I’m flying into Calama and off to the Atacama Desert for 5 days. 🌵

Nite 😘
