Ever played that game “Where in the world am I” or “Where’s Wally”? Well that’s exactly how I feel. Sometimes I have to stop and think where I am. I’ve been in so many planes and stayed in so many hotels/hostels over the last 2 months that I have no idea what day nor date it is. The only thing that vaguely keeps me right is the little days that are stamped on my HRT pills – but even then sometimes I’m not sure if I’ve taken them with any regularity. To be convinced, I consult the wee red dot on my google Callander.
Now, today, Thursday maybe Wednesday hope it’s not Friday or I’ll have missed my flight to Santiago and Montevideo………just checked google, it’s definitely Thursday 21st November, I’ve travelled on a three hour bus journey from Puerto Natales back to Punta Arenas to catch the flight tomorrow.
I haven’t really researched and organised this last part of my S.A trip. I have still to book a hotel in Montevideo (haha living on a prayer is playing through the speakers) not looked at the bus timetable from M.Vid up to La Corollina & the turtle conservation and still to purchase a towel – left mine at ESP. Verde! So much to do!
But first a beer,

And chill out in this beautiful hotel

I’ve seen a gorgeous waterproof jacket walking on the way here from the bus station. I couldn’t go in because I couldn’t get through the door with my rucksack. Now that’s dumped at the hotel I’ll go back.
Went back to the outdoor shop but the jacket was in men’s sizes only. On the way there I had a good look at the damage the demonstrators made and it’s just pitiful.

There’s a demonstration going on in the square not far from the hotel. I can hear horns, drums, whistles, shouting through loud speakers and now police sirens – best stay inside the hotel tonight.
I’ve finally booked my hotel in Montevideo for tomorrow night – a lovely one just on the beach. Might even go for a massage to prepare my muscles for walking those many miles and miles along the beach at the turtle conservation. It’ll get me fit for sure.
The bus journey is a bit complicated and I’m too tired to figure it out at the moment. I’ll go down to the reception and book my 6am taxi to the airport for tomorrow and then go to the bar for my free Pisco sour welcome drink.
My glasses frame broke again – third time!!! And my superglue was away at the bottom of my rucksack. I was hoping not to unpack today but I did 😩 🎒 I’m taking g these £1 specs back to the shop for a refund as soon as I get home 🤓
Taxi booked and headed to the restaurant on the 6th floor to reclaim my free Pisco sour ( all those that are following my blog will know exactly what I am talking about). I didn’t intend to eat but they brought me the menu with the freeby and after a quick perusal I settled on salmon with a tomato salad and a wee glass of Savie as I watched the Punta Arena riots from my dining table window.
At one point there were 3 buildings alight all around the hotel, the riot police arrived with tear gas, water canon vehicle and the demonstrators pelted them with stones.
You know there’a one thing I hate, when you’ve eaten in a restaurant and given them your custom, out of the blue they present you with the bill. The waiter didn’t even ask me if I’d like another glass of wine or even a sweet – maybe he was desperate to go out and join the revolution before it fizzles out!
It continued all evening, even now as I lie in my bed I can hear the crowd jeering, horns blaring, whistles screetching and loud explosions from either tear gas or smoke bombs. Hopefully it’ll settled down soon.
Back in bed, alarm set for 5am, i dont think the mayhem outside my window will keep me awake somehow 💤💤
nite 😘
